Amsterdam Type Tour

As mentioned in a previous post, I went to Amsterdam with the university. The trip was not just for fun, I did infect have a project.  The aim of this brief was to create a typographic tour of Amsterdam city, which celebrates and articulates its great visual and cultural background. This brief was met by creating an app’ that allows the tourist to navigate through the city towards popular destinations, which also maps out the most notable and interesting typography. The brochure also reflects the contents of the app’. Below I have attached images of the final outcomes:

Amsterdam

24th March - 28th March 2019 As part of one of my final modules of University, we went to Amsterdam for a project.  Amsterdam is a city that is both progressive and historic. The city is bursting with exciting things to see including typography.    There are 17th century canals and trendy cannabis coffeeshops. Houses line the streets, with a neon glow from the Red Light District. Bicycles can be found everywhere, and the city’s history of beer is changing to accommodate craft brewers.   Amsterdam is a compact city; however, the popular sights are spread throughout, making  it difficult to organise an easy flowing trip. This is where we are tasked to create a type tour. I have gathered over 400 images. This means, my next tasks is to go through them all...

309AAD: Advertisement script

For this campaign to be strong, I decided it needed an advert. The advert needs to be informative yet playful so here is what I came up with initially. Story board: The Script: Reflection: Animation and videography is not my strongest aspect in design however, this project gave me the chance to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Due to this I researched the two most popular video editing programs by watching video tutorials on Lynda.com. I decided the best platform to produce my advert in was Adobe AfterEffects over Adobe Premiere Pro. This was beacuse I have perviously used premiere pro which I struggled with. Using this program for the first time had its challenges however, I found I learnt how to use the standard tools very quickly. I feel that a weaker point that could be developed is organising my files better because I found that it made the process harder and it also became more time consuming.  Here are some videos of my development to achieving t

309AAD: Products and Packaging

I was really struggling to come up with a strong poster design because of this, I decided to move on to branding a different part of the campaign, the packaging. I decided that I wanted to produce different types of membership boxes. This would be beneficial for BeeCause because, it gives the chance for the audience to donate money and also get something in return. Potential membership packages: 1. Membership Card:                     Works similar to a nectar card. The purpose of the card is to get people to buy more       organic products. When organic items are purchased points are added to the card, these points can then be deducted from grocery shopping. 2. Bee Saver Kit (Subscription Box):                     This is a box that would have various items in including: news letter, save the bees guide, poster, one organic product and a bee identity collectable card (different bee each month). This box is sent out 4 times a year at the start of each years new season.

D&AD Submission

I decided to submit my work to the D&AD competition. Here I have attached the video presentation and support .jpegs that I sent. I am very excited about this and I am hoping I win a pencil from this  completion, as this will give an advantage over others when applying for jobs. To submit work, I had to write small explanation. Here is what I put: ‘Virgin Venture’ is for the adventurous. The app and website allow people to book holidays based on categories and destinations. The second feature, which differentiates this app is ‘Venture Luck’. This feature is for the risk takers. The interface of this section is inspired by the popular Tinder app, allowing people to skip, save or book pre-planned holidays. The only detail needed from the person is a date.  There are also interactive posters that work identically, allowing someone to tap the screen. Each tap reveals a new destination, they can then use NFC to save the details.

Update on the worst day ever

I spent yesterday with my tutors Phil, Paul and Mark who spent a total of 4 hours trying everything to retrieve my work. Unfortunately, they couldn't get anything. They suggested I go to Apple straight away, so yesterday night just after 6pm I hopped onto a train. When I got their they informed me they cannot look at it that night. The next day, I went to the Apple store for 9am. They spent just under an hour looking at it. This was when the man looking at my laptop said my work is completely gone. Now, I have to recreate all of the work I lost. This semester just got a whole lot harder. Throughout the whole of this Phil has been incredibly understanding and gave me so much help. I just want to say a huge thank you to him fr going above and beyond. Also, thank you for coming to Apple to check on me even though I had already left.

The worst day ever...

Today I lost all my course work. Im not sure what happened but all my work is now gone. I am speechless. I have emailed my tutors asking them for any work they may have in their possession that was produced by me... Lets see what happens I guess....
