Submission Day

Submission day was stressful. Due to being project managed I had to submit my own work and also the groups work. I had been trying to get work from other team members for 4 days. No one seemed to listen to me and everyone was avoiding me. I repeatedly asked for the same things every day and they all decide to give me the work the night before submission and the morning of it. This put pressure on me because I was left to organise everyones work onto a memory stick I bought with my own money. I informed them that I will be submitting my work at 9am but this became later as I waited for more work. Once it hit half 10 I had enough of waiting around and told them I will be submitting at 11.

I went to uni and submitted my work at 11:12am on Tuesday 8th May. Usually after submission you get a email saying you've submitted straight after. I did not get this email. I walked home and still hadn't received it. This made me feel very concerned so I ended up going back to university. I asked the lady to resubmit my work. It turns out that when I first submitted it, the scanner wasn't working which meant they took my work, however there was no evidenced I submitted. So I basically handed in twice, the second time I submitted the time was 12:02pm and I also received an email. Once I saw the email, I felt like I could finally relax.

D&AD Submission

I decided to submit my work to the D&AD competition. Here I have attached the video presentation and support .jpegs that I sent. I am very excited about this and I am hoping I win a pencil from this  completion, as this will give an advantage over others when applying for jobs. To submit work, I had to write small explanation. Here is what I put: ‘Virgin Venture’ is for the adventurous. The app and website allow people to book holidays based on categories and destinations. The second feature, which differentiates this app is ‘Venture Luck’. This feature is for the risk takers. The interface of this section is inspired by the popular Tinder app, allowing people to skip, save or book pre-planned holidays. The only detail needed from the person is a date.  There are also interactive posters that work identically, allowing someone to tap the screen. Each tap reveals a new destination, they can then use NFC to save the details. ...

Placement research

Over the last few weeks I have been researching job placements. It has been very hard to find 3 month placements, all of them seem to be a year long or I am not qualified for the opportunity. However, I kept on looking even with these minor set backs and I have now found some placements that I can apply for. 12 month placements DISNEY - Creative & Product Development  https://jobs.disneycareers.com/job/london/internships-creative-and-product-development-2018-19/391/5832619 UNIVERSAL - Graphic Design Intern http://jobs.jobvite.com/universalmusicgroup/job/ofZm6fwq Both of these 12 month placements are amazing opportunities but this is not what I am looking for. I want to either have a placement over the given time during semester 2 (March -May)or, have a summer placement. Due to this, I decided to research local design agencies in Coventry. Here are the three I liked the most. These three design agencies would help me develop professionally b...

Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Muesum

Friday 30th September Today I went on a trip to Oxford to visit two museums. These museum's were Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers. Both of these museums had lots to offer but, I did prefer the Pitt Rivers museum beacuse it at things you could interactive with. Ashmolean is the University of Oxford's museum of art, founded in 1683. The collection is very large and has Egyption mummies to contemporary art. The museum displays all sorts of diversity throughout culture across time. During the time I was exploring the museum, I produced some observational drawings as well as taking photographs. My favourite part of the museum was the Egyptions beacuse, it was incredible to get close to these amazing historical pieces. Pitt Rivers displays archaeology and anthropology collections of the University of Oxford. The museum was founded in 1884 by 'Augustus Pitt Rivers'. He agreed to give his collection to the museum on the agreement that a lecture in anthropology was held on a regu...
