Course work and worshops 6 and 7

14th November - 24th November Monday14th November Dr Simon Bell was not in to give us a lecture. This meant we had Paula presenting a movie Tuesday 15th November The lecture started off with him informing us on how he wanted our work to be presented. He told us we need to hand in a USB with our research and development of our key milestones of work. He then showed us examples of work that was produced last year for the same subject, looking at other people's work made me realise i need to tell more of the story throughout my work. I also need to produce a variety of designs, show my development and changes I produced after feedback. He then moved on to info design. We looked at micro/macro reading and complicity versus simplicity. Simplicity is fine data. He informed us that the eye can only take a certain amount of information at a time so it is important, we design a map that doesn't overcomplicate things. He then went around the room to talk to individual groups.

7th till 11th November Monday 7th November Mondays start with Dr Simon Bell, the lecture he presented today was called 'a site to inspire'. The key word for this lecture was 'accuracy'. This lecture touched upon some hard things that were quite emotional and really opened up my eyes to the world. Here are the notes I took during this lecture: Crimea (charge of the light Brigade) Unpopular war in the Crimea same time as Industrial Revolution there was a group called the glorious 600 men. This group charged but it was a misunderstanding During this time period illustrators were used to capture the events rather than a photographer Lord Cardigan played a huge role during this time. During this time it comes across as they trusted illustrations more than photographs. Propaganda can be linked to photography because it can look like everything is fine and ordered. In reality it isn't. 20th century There are now smaller cameras 3.5 mm wide film Portable camera

This lecture was entitled 'Bewick, Stone and Breakfast at Tiffany's: the return of the true urban cowboy. In this lecture we learnt about the difference between urban and rural. We alsolooked at the artists 'Thomas Beswick' and 'Reynolds Stone'. Here are the notes i gathered. You need a honest design We then listened to Breakfast at Tiffany's music Thomas Beswick (1753_1828)  Sympathetic work, incredible detail, maybe dishonest work (could have made the scenery up) manipulating the viewers in believing its true External accuracy Reynolds Stone (1900-1979) Worked to the frame Beautiful How the view really looked to him  We then watched the first 15 minutes of Breakfast at Tiffany's. 1961, 3 to 4 years before pyschedelic She didnt eat very elegantly Out all night but the cat was in (should be other way around) Rural man/ excentric
